Kirstie always knew she wanted to care for others
Kirstie has progressed from a Carer to a Senior Carer with TrustCare, here's her story:
“I chose to become a Carer because I have always been a kind and caring person. From a young age, I helped with family members and found it rewarding so I decided that it was the career path I wanted to take.
I also like to think that when I get older, and if I need care, that someone would have the same attitude as me and want to look after people who need it.
I have worked in several care homes over the years and the quality of care and standard of working conditions varied. TrustCare is the best care company I have come across and I’ve been here for almost a year.
My usual day as a Carer involves everything from assisting clients with personal care and preparing nutritious meals, to taking them shopping or just being a familiar friendly face to keep them company and sit and have a chat.
My favourite part of the job is giving people a sense of security knowing that they look forward to someone coming to visit and they are not alone - some clients don’t have family and we are the only people they see each day.
I also enjoy going to clients’ houses and getting to know them and their families and forming a trusted bond with them. It makes me proud to know that I’ve made a difference to their lives and can give their friends and family a sense of relief by taking away some of the stress.
My manager is very supportive and there are there are lots of opportunities to progress – I’m now a Senior Carer and have grown in confidence, learned new skills and gained experience. The team is great too and we encourage and learn from each other.”
We’re proud of our Carers and support them to deliver the best possible care to people in their own homes. To anyone interested in becoming a Carer at TrustCare - you can find out about our rewarding package and apply here.
